Venus Sun Transit
We joined the Astronomical Society of Las Cruces and NMSU at their public viewing of Venus' transit between us and the Sun. It was really amazing to get to see it through the solar telescopes they had available as well as with some special lenses. For some really amazing photos of this event click here. They had some activities set up for the kids like drawing the planets with chalk. Nathan wanted to draw the transit, which allowed for another rare astronomical event to take place: the Nathan Sun Transit.

It's marvelous that you're teaching your kids about the greatness of the Universe and about community events. :)
As long as they let me I will geek it up with them. I love community events. I always gripe at people when they say there is nothing to do here.
