Petroglyphs and Fires

Another Sunday, another adventure! For this adventure, we drove up to the Three Rivers Petroglyphs site. The weather was perfect for hiking around and looking at the petroglyphs. While there, another adventurer told us about the Valley of Fires. Since it was still early in the day and not too far away, we headed there next. I was really blown away. Every time I think I know New Mexico, we discover another place that just blows me away.

So cool! I had never heard of this "valley of Fire." Why is it called that? And once again your photos are lovely as ever. I'm especially fond of the broad landscape one and the close-up up the nopal Mmm, texture :)

I had not heard of it either, so I was surprised when we went. It was amazing. It's a lava flow that is about 2 miles wide and 20 miles long. It is simply surreal and beautiful! You must visit if you ever get the chance.
